Only 3 Days Until the 5th Annual Lake George Polar Plunge
Lake George, NY – Nearly 440 participants representing nearly 50 teams are already signed up and have raised over $40,000 for the fifth annual Lake George Polar Plunge for Special Olympics New York! This is a 67% increase over 2010’s number and we haven’t even closed the week out! Last year, more than $80,000 was raised at this event, and with this significant increase in participants we are hoping to surpass last year’s total! There are at least 500 people expected to take the Plunge or be a “Chicken” along with hundreds of their friends and family who support them as spectators!
Pre-Plunge Party – Shepard’s Cove (3 Lower Montcalm Street, Lake George)
November 18th | 6pm-12am
- Shuttle service from Holiday Inn Express to Shepard’s Cove during the party
- Food and drink specials ($3 draft beer, $4 signature “Polar Night Cap”)
- Live music beginning at 8pm
- Raffles, live auction and brand new Plunge merchandise for sale!
- Pre-registration at the party, that means no getting up early to wait in line the next morning!
Plunge Day Events – Shepard’s Park Beach
November 19th | Registration at 9am, Plunge at Noon
- Live remote broadcast from 100.3 The Point
- Zumba warm-up class at 11:00am and massages courtesy of Massage Works available from 9am-11:30am
- Food and hot beverages for registered Plungers and Chickens – Coffee and hot chocolate provided by Starbucks and Fort William Henry, bagels and pastries from Panera, Stewart’s ice cream and juice
- Tons of great Polar Plunge and Special Olympics merchandise for sale
- Watch Plungers as they follow the Special Olympics Torch into the icy waters of Lake George!

For $100 fundraised you will receive a Polar Plunge sweatshirt. The more money you raise, the better prizes you will receive, including a fleece set for raising $250, a Tri-Cot jacket for $750, a rolling cooler for $1,500, a poly jacket for $2,500 and a commuter rolling bag for $5,000.
Too Chicken to Plunge? No worries! Join our Chicken Coop! With a fundraising minimum of $50, Chickens will receive preferred Plunge viewing, wings courtesy of Buffalo Wild Wings, and lots of fun and entertainment, along with the same incentives as Plungers – all without having to dip a big toe in! Chickens can register online as well.
